Dear Barack Obama. I did everything I could on my blog to paint you as an old-school left winger that lacked the experience, character and know-how to be the President. I still have many serious reservations about your Presidency. However, I am willing to give you a chance. I know this country needs change, and it is possible we can agree on a few things. I sincerely hope that everything I said on this blog will prove incorrect as you grow into the office.

We can agree that our nation needs a lot of help, especially in education. Do me a favor and read the cover story from this week’s Business Week by Michael Porter. He’s a Harvard guy like you and he seems to have the right ideas for a bipartisan economic plan. Here’s an excerpt that I think applies to you.

We need a strategy supported by the majority to secure America’s economic future. Yet Americans hear the same old divisive arguments…Democrats keep talking as if they want to penalize investment and economic success. They defend unions obstructing change in areas like education, cling to cumbersome regulatory approaches, and resist ways to get litigation costs for business in line with other countries. Democrats equivocate on trade in an irreversibly global economy. They seem to think social progress can be achieved only at the expense of business.

To make America competitive, we have to get beyond this thinking. Political leaders, business leaders, and civil society must begin a respectful, fact-based dialogue about our challenges. We need to focus on competitive reality, not defending past policies.

Ok, now get busy and study this article and invite Porter to be in your administration. He’s got the right stuff. Oh, and as far as international affairs, I recommend that you listen to those Bush people that are briefing you and please consult John McCain about Iraq and Afghanistan. He knows a lot of things that you don’t. Good luck. You’re going to need it!

Democrats used to make fun of Ronald Reagan for being an actor without substance. While Obama lacks Reagan’s authenticity as a person and as a professional actor, Obama did a commendable job of appearing presidential. In is mock seriousness and posing as a potential commander-in-chief, Obama was admirably focused on a few key points. He tried to appear sensible and sound-in-judgement on the major issues of foreign policy all to win over undecided voters who know little about his true ideology and fail to grasp that much of what he actually says is completely without substance. The substance present in his words if one listens carefully, is very scary.

For instance, the whole talk of moving “two brigades” to Afganistan where “the real war on terror is” is simply a focus-group driven statement with no basis in reality. Until recently Obama didn’t know the definition of a brigade and now he’s talking about using the military term as a commander. Secondly, the real war on terror is still in Iraq, in the heart of the Middle East. Afghanistan may have a few remaining targets, but its stability matters far less than Iraq. Unfortunately most Americans just don’t realize this, which allows the cynical and false Obama strategy to work.

McCain righttfully pointed out that Obama doesn’t know anything about Afghanistan/Pakistan, but some people care more about McCain not looking into the camera. Unfortunately a lot of undecided voters look at these non-verbal cues and don’t pay attention to the facts and words.

Furthermore, Obama tries to distance himself from McCain by promising to rekindle alliances and improve American image abroad. The problem with that strategy is that our so-called allies continue to be in a state of denial about the nature of the Islamic Jihad. They think that American and Israel policy is to blame for the threat of terrorism. We can’t truly be on the same page with our “allies” unless we take all of the blame for the world’s problems and then renounce our own self-interest. This is the reason that the rest of the world loves Obama. He won’t stand up for American interests and he’ll join in the chorus of blaming American and Israeli policy. Without a President that strongly stands up for American interests against the UN we’re in for a lot of trouble. I hope the electorate wakes up soon enough, but I’m not optimistic.

Obama “won” the debate by being the better actor. Facts and logic have nothing to do with it. That, my friends is the frightening reality. It’s getting close to election day and it does not look good for McCain.

Obama Nation, by a certain Jerome Corsi is the best selling book right now. I’m not sure if this is good news or bad news. On one hand, I agree with the book’s basic premise that Barack Obama would be a disastrous left-wing failure of a president. On the other hand, the messenger is severely flawed. Dr. Corsi is a well-known figure, who basically invented the term “swift boating” in a highly dishonorable attack on Senator Kerry. Much of his book about John Kerry is full of claims with poor evidence and pure exaggeration. This book about Obama is not likely a lot better. My concern is that the messenger may take away from the message. There is no need to exaggerate the truth about Obama. The truth is pretty damning. However, when the author make spurious claims about the practice of Islam and drug use, he doesn’t help his case. Rather it allows the Obama campaign to discredit the entire book, by highlighting some of the falsehoods.

Obama likes money.  He’s exceptionally good at raising it from wealthy donors in Silicon Valley.  How then can I call him a “commie?”  Well, first of all there is a little exaggeration in my title.  The downside is that I may be written off as a right wing reactionary, which I’m not.  I always challenge my own thinking and this post proves it.  I recently read an article in the Atlantic Monthly about Obama’s fundraising machine.  What I was most surprised the learn was that this fundraising success emerged before Obama  even declared his candidacy.  The effort was driven by young, idealistic entrepreneurs in Silicon Valley that were very opposed to the Iraq war.  These supporters certainly believe in capitalism and are quite good at making it work for them.  However, since their primary concern was Bush’s foreign policy, they embraced Obama because he was the most pure anti-war voice in the Democratic party and he had excellent “buzz” about him because of his 2004 appearance at the Democratic convention.  These Silicon Valley types understand the importance of buzz in generating money because that’s what they do.  Unfortunately, in their desire to get an anti-war president, they have unwittingly created the possibility of an ultra-left President who really in his heart does not believe in fundamental principles of America, primarily capitalism.  Let’s hope all this money and slick marketing fails to bring about the Obama Nation.

In Portland Oregon, the town known as “Little Beirut” for its ultra-left, Anti-American political bent, a band called the “Decembrists” allegedly played the anthem of the Soviet Union at a huge Obama Rally.  Apparently, this band does this every concert.  Here’s a link to more information in the blogosphere.

And here’s proof on film (from YouTube) that this band does use the Soviet Anthem in their regular shows.  If anyone has video of the Decembrists doing this at the Obama rally, that would be even better.

Currently the conservative blogosphere is the most significan body of information linking Obama to the far-left.  However, I came across this gem from Rolling Stone Magazine

This (referring to Obama’s church and spiritual advisor) is as openly radical a background as any significant American political figure has ever emerged from, as much Malcolm X as Martin Luther King Jr. Wright is not an incidental figure in Obama’s life, or his politics.

Rolling Stone is a fairly liberal publication and they can’t even resist painting Mr. Obama as a radical when writing about his ”spiritual advisor,” Rev Jeremiah Wright.  Read the full article and be afraid…very afraid.
