Who is playing politics with the debate?
The media consensus, which also happens to be the line from the Obama campaign and the Congressional Dumbocrats, seems to be that McCain is the one playing politics with the debate this Friday. That’s rich. Not long ago the Obama campaign was dragging its feet about scheduling debates and agreeing to much fewer than the wishes of the McCain campaign. Now all of the sudden Obama is casting himself as the man that wants to go on with the debate, ignoring McCain’s idea for both candidates to return to Washington to do their job in the Senate. In my view, Senator McCain working next to Senator Obama as a Senator would allow voters to see which is more effective at working with their colleagues on an important time-sensitive issue. Obama wants to get this Debate over with because it is about foreign policy which is his weakest area and it is currently scheduled for Friday night which is the worst evening for television ratings. If the debate were rescheduled more people would see his relative inexperience on foreign policy and by not appearing in the Senate with McCain, he also avoids another unfavorable side-by-side comparison. And somehow McCain is the one playing politics!
